Book 3/25 - The Martian: Now this book is exactly what I was expecting from Andy Weir. I have watched The Martian a couple of times and loved it. The book was indeed better and actually faster paced than the movie. I still have to suspend my disbelief about some of the details at the end of the movie, but the book’s version is certainly more believable. #reading #feedyourbrain #neverstoplearning #andyweir #themartian #fiction

Book 2/25 - Willful Child: Amusing take on a Star Trek parody. If you’ve seen any parodies before like Zapp Brannigan or Tripping the Riff, there is nothing new here. Fun quick read and a start of a trilogy. #willfulchild #stevenerikson #reading #fiction #neverstoplearning #feedyourbrain

Went overboard getting reading for the 2019 reading year. I already have a pile left over from last year. But here’s the new batch. Some fiction and a whole whack of personal development. #reading #feddyourbrain #neverstoplearning

Book 1/25 a Artemis: So I failed on my reading goal in 2018, so I’m setting the same goal for 2019. To be honest I started this book yesterday but I’m going to count it for 2019. Fun quick read, though at times I felt the physics etc. Was over explained. I like the Andy Weir does try and weave those sorts of details into books but it results in characters saying things that don’t seem natural or relevant to the situation they’re in. Overall it’s a fun read and great story! #artemis #andyweir #reading #feedyourbrain

Book 18/25 - Farsighted: First book I’ve read on the subject of decision making. The author makes the point that this is a topic left out of most of educational backgrounds and that is very much true. Farsighted is about three books in one, a how-to guide about making decisions, American military decisions in history, specifically the Revolutionary War and capturing and killing Osama Bin Ladin, and an essay about Middlemarch. I’m looking forward to using some of the decision making techniques over the coming year. Specifically full-spectrum mapping, scenario planning, premortum, linear value modelling, and bad events tables. These are very similar tools to what I use in engineering for evaluating designs, so why not bring them into the fold to make big life decisions? #farsighted #stevenjohnson #reading #neverstoplearning #feedyourbrain
